LoveZoo
Reunion in Aid of Charity Mind
Lovezoo Logo

LoveZoo, one of Nottingham's longest standing house nights, returned for one night only to raise funds for mental health charity Mind.

During the 00's LoveZoo was arguably one of the best nights out in Nottingham, with over 800 revellers partying there every Saturday. Originally held at the Lost Weekend then at Gatecrasher, LoveZoo returned to Nottingham on Saturday 3rd November, for one night only, to raise money for mental health charity Mind.

Held at the Nottingham Contemporary, one of Nottingham's most architecturally impressive buildings, LoveZoo needed festival grade production and lighting as a backdrop for this highly anticipated reunion event.

Reliving one more weekend

LoveZoo turned to iEffects, who are renowned for their experience in the club sector, to create an impressive and memorable sound and visual effect production that would take revellers back in time, to the days of the Lost Weekend, one of the best night clubs in the UK.

From conceptual design to full implementation we delivered a full solution - lighting, sound, video and special effects across two spaces, to make the reunion a truly immersive experience, that would transport guests back to this popular club nights' glory days.

Following a consultation with the client project team and an appraisal of the venue, we set about designing and architecting highly visual light shows, immersive video displays, a wide range of hard hitting special effect techniques and industry leading sound production to maximise the space and set up.

A truly immersive experience

When it comes to club nights, sound is all important and it was vital that the sound systems we used not only offered impeccable sound quality but were appropriate for such a unique venue; a gallery designed to house installations and exhibits, rather than to host club nights. We used the industry leading Opus Audio sound system, CS850 Mid/Hi's, SB218 subs and Pioneer CDJ nexus 2 DJ Kit to deliver crystal clear sound and even coverage.

We used Elation Beams 5rs, Chauvet 412 wash heads, Elation Proton Strobes, Elation DTW350 blinders, Elation Sixbar1000 Pixel Bars and Elation Sixpar300 to create 5 hours of adrenaline inducing light shows that not only supported and enhanced the DJ's performances but were a visual assault on the senses in their own right. The visual feast was further enhanced with video projected onto huge Elation EZ6 6mm Led screens with visuals controlled by our VJ, live to the music.

We went all out with special effects to ensure the guests were delivered an unforgettable 'club night' experience. We used Co2 jets, Sparkulars (pyrotechnics), confetti showers and last but by no means least, Pangolin controlled 6 Watt RGB lasers either side of the DJ to create a high energy, exciting, fully immersive experience.

Creating unforgettable memories

We couldn’t access the venue until 3pm on the day of the event, so set up time was extremely tight, but the iEffects team, made up of a sound, lighting and special effects specialist, 2 lighting technicians and a VJ worked through through a 12 hours shift to ensure it was an event to remember.

We were delighted to be part of bringing LoveZoo back to Nottingham one final time and raising funds for such as extremely worthy cause.

When it comes to sound and visual effects for club nights, iEffects are the best in the industry. From planning, to set up, to delivery no ones does it better!
